Free COPD Clinic

Do you or someone in your family have COPD? Asthma? Emphysema? If so, The American Thoracic Society recommends you be tested for Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, a genetic disorder which is treatable.

Free Screening Day: May 18, 2011 from 11am - 4 pm at Quabbin Valley Healthcare
821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol

Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency is a genetic disorder that could manifest itself in the following conditions:

  • COPD (Chronic Pulmonary Obstruction Disorders)
  • Emphysema
  • Uncontrollable Asthma
  • Bronchitis

Because the disorder is genetic, testing can now be done to find if an important protective protein is not being fully released from the liver which protects the lungs from disease. The disorder is treatable by replacing that missing protein.

You can find additional information about Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency by logging on to www.alpha1.org.

Please visit Quabbin Valley Healthcare for your free genetic screening on May 18.
